Toyo Open Country R/T Review
Overall the Toyo Open Country RT is overall great option for someone who likes to stay on roads with a hybrid tire, and yes who can compromise a little on it's wet grip. A pro tip though, if you have to run…
All Terrain tires simply provide you with off road capability while still keeping things quite and comfortable on road. These tires are especially designed in a way to allow stability on both worlds.

And since it’s very tough to find the perfect balance between these two terrains, these AT tires have to undergo a lot of engineering and tread designing to achieve better results.
And that’s where I come in, so you guys can understand, exactly what’s going on with these tires.
All terrain tires are mostly seen with staggered shoulder blocks and sidewall lugs which enhance the off road handling and gripping.
Their inner construction is also much more durable, where they are mostly seen with more no. of plies to protect the sidewalls, which is very susceptible to damage off road.
These tire compared to ordinary ones are provided with larger groove voids and depth so that they can be more capable of getting dirt, mud and water out of the tire.
But with larger grooves, the tire also loses rubber to road contact and this loses the grip. That’s why all terrain tires have to compromise between the aggressiveness and the on road comfort.
Overall the Toyo Open Country RT is overall great option for someone who likes to stay on roads with a hybrid tire, and yes who can compromise a little on it's wet grip. A pro tip though, if you have to run…
Well, I'd say in between. You see the Atturo Trail Blade is an all rounder tire in the category. Here everything is average including it's value to money. Which means that the tire is pretty balanced in both on and off road…
Yokohama Geolandar X-AT although is a rugged terrain tire coming in between all & mud terrain, the tire could aggressive shoulder lugs, a little bit optimization over there can do wonders for this tire. The good thing is the tire is very…
With newer generation, the Nitto Terra Grappler although has improved a lot of things, but while improving it's snow traction, the company did not focus too much on it's wet capabilities, and the tire lacks there. I personally have no complaints off…
Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus is well all rounder all terrain tire, which provides a good balanced traction on and off road. On roads the tire is one of the best ones in terms of handling, where its also going to impress…
Well when it comes to Firestone Destination AT2, the tire provides a very decent on road performance. But then again they are very less aggressive, especially, on the shoulders and sidewalls. And yes, there are not too protected too, so you are…
The Nitto Ridge is going to perform much better off road than on highways. But the tire is still good enough for roads. There are not too loud, provide satisfactory ride quality, all is good except their wet handling. It's a little…
The Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT is although an aggressive variant compared to it's other members, the 4S and the LT, it's still better suited for highways compared to off road. But still the added sidewall lugs on the tire provides additional support…
Both tires are 3PMSF and M+S rated, so like seen above, they are both great on snow. On highways, the Toyo Open Country AT3 is superior on dry roads as it's tread provides greater stability values. Whereas the Cooper AT3 XLT is…
Well, I'd say in between. Nitto Recon Grappler is a confusing tire on wet, and it does not provide enough lateral stability there, and I am not talking about just roads, wet rocks, or gravel, on any wet patch, the tire would…
So to sum up, the Hankook Dynapro AT2 is an excellent all-rounder, earning it a place on our list of top all-terrain tires, but only when it comes to dry traction, noise and handling capabilities. And yes winter traction too (it comes…
The Kenda Klever R/T comes right in the middle of All Terrain and Mud Terrain tires, so the tire is also called a hybrid besides Rugged Terrain. Other popular tires in the RT category include Duratrac, Nitto Ridge Grappler and Toyo RT,…
Let's start with KO2, this tire is one of the toughest you can get (staying in A/T tires) so with that combined with it's powerful biting lugs, the tire provides tremendous off road traction. On the other side, the Cooper AT3 has…
Both rugged terrain tires are pretty good overall, but the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T is taking things to the next level as it's on road performance is simply great. And here the most important thing to consider is it's wet traction.…
Toyo Open Country AT3 is an all terrain tire, upgraded from the Toyo AT2, and now has 3pmsfr and improved traction on dry roads. And although the tire's performance on wet asphalts is better compared to Duratrac, it's still not good enough.…
Both tires here are although marketed as all terrain, they are both hybrid (rugged terrain tires), so they come right in the middle of AT and MT. Out of these two, the Goodyear Duratrac offers better performance of dry and wet roads,…
Out of both tires, its pretty obvious why Continental TerrainContact, being one of the least aggressive tire, does a better job on highways, in both wet and dry conditions. Though it's winter traction could have made it a better all-season tire, though…
The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus is a good tire but only if you stay on highways more. The tire's light weight provide amazing fuel efficiency, and tread life, and overall, it's quite effective on both on and off road traction. But…
The Falken Wildpeak AT3w focuses on wet, winter and wear (the 3 w in it's name), and out of these, I have to say it's great in all of them, well except for wear in general. On the other hand, the Goodyear…
Both tires are mild all-terrain tires, and out of them, the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain performs better on dry roads, in terms of traction, noise, fuel economy and wear. In comparison, on Pirelli Scorpion AT+, you get to have superior off road…
Overall it's pretty evident now, that the Cooper Discoverer AT3 is better suited when it comes to highway stability, and although its grip is on par with Wildpeak in wet, it provides better dry traction along with fuel consumption and overall comfort.…
So out of both tires here, the Toyo AT3 is better on roads, as it provides better traction, on both wet and dry, though it's wet performance can still be improved. The tire also has 3pmsf rating unlike the Nitto Ridge, and…
So overall BFG Trail Terrain is a nice on road oriented all terrain option. On roads and pavements, the tire gives you decent ride quality with its smoother and quieter ride. And traction wise, things are also okay on dry, but still…
The Maxxis Razr AT811 is going to perform much better off road than on highways. But the tire is still good enough for roads. There are not too loud, provide satisfactory ride quality, all is good except their wet handling. It's a…
The BF Goodrich KO2 still stands one of the toughest tires out there. With a close difference, for your info, the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT comes in 2nd. But with spirally wound nylon coverings the KO2 offers more protection to sidewalls,…
Although the BF Goodrich KO2 is one of the toughest AT tire out there, it's still not able to out perform Nitto Ridge Grappler on rocky and muddy terrains. But the tire is an all rounder, meaning it does not compromise too much…
Toyo Open Country provides overall better stability on dry roads, and on wet it provides ample hydroplaning resistance. Off road, the tire lacks in durability and aggressiveness but still provide a satisfactory performance. The Falken Wildpeak is almost on par in terms…
Well when it comes to Yokohama Geolandar G015, the tire provides a very decent on road performance. But then again they are very less aggressive, especially, on the shoulders and sidewalls. And yes, there are not too protected too, so you are…
The Falken Wildpeak AT3w is simply awesome. And I don't usually use that word. This tire actually is pretty awesome as it deals with all types of terrains and at the same time, does not disappoint off-road. Plus it has impressive on…
The Falken Wildpeak AT3w focuses on wet, wear and winter performance, (hence it's name 3w), but the tire is only better in the wet, but it's very significant. The wear award goes to Grabber, which also performed better on snow slightly, although…
The Grabber ATX is better of a performer on dry roads, but lacks slightly in lateral traction, this is felt more off road (particularly on rocks). But other than that provides pretty decent traction values on all sorts of terrains, including snow,…
The General Grabber A/TX is overall a decent investment of a tire. It provides you with good dry traction, I'm gonna say okay wet traction, nice hydroplaning resistance and is the best when it comes to wear, so it's going to last…
The Toyo Open Country AT3 is simply a great overall all rounder tire. It comes on my list of best all terrain tires. You can find that article from the search bar. These tires are going to impress on dry roads. They…
All-terrain tires are constantly improving, offering a diverse selection to suit various needs. In my ratings, I've found that these tires excel in both on and off-road conditions. However, some lean more towards on-road use, like the Continental TerrainContact and the Cooper…
Falken Wildpeak AT3w simple covers all areas which makes an AT tire great. It provides decent on road traction, where it's remarkable on wet with it's dual siping, which also awards it 3 PMSF rating. The tire provide good comfort and is…
Both tires are popular for these all reasons we discussed. And all the topics we covered here really help you choose a tire which is best suitable for your need, as they both work very differently. And overall, generally you simply can't…
