Hi Folks. I’m Ozmen, and I work as a tire designer/engineer. I understand finding a tire isn’t easy, as there are so many variables involved. But with me around, tire selection would never bother you again. Learn More About Me.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T vs Nitto Ridge Grappler
Both rugged terrain tires are pretty good overall, but the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T is taking things to the next level as it's on road performance is simply great. And here the most important thing to consider is it's wet traction. There are a very few tires which are as good on wet with such aggressive design.

Toyo Open Country AT3 vs Goodyear Duratrac
Toyo Open Country AT3 is an all terrain tire, upgraded from the Toyo AT2, and now has 3pmsfr and improved traction on dry roads. And although the tire's performance on wet asphalts is better compared to Duratrac, it's still not good enough. On the other side, the GY Duratrac is a great off roader which provides ample mud traction and on roads, the tire is not too bad except for the noise, they are very loud.

Nitto Ridge Grappler vs DuraTrac
Both tires here are although marketed as all terrain, they are both hybrid (rugged terrain tires), so they come right in the middle of AT and MT. Out of these two, the Goodyear Duratrac offers better performance of dry and wet roads, so you can say overall better on highways. But note that the tire is very loud so it's not good in the comfort department.
Continental TerrainContact AT vs BF Goodrich KO2
Out of both tires, its pretty obvious why Continental TerrainContact, being one of the least aggressive tire, does a better job on highways, in both wet and dry conditions. Though it's winter traction could have made it a better all-season tire, though its missing with 3 peak mountain snowflake rating. BF Goodrich KO2 on the other hand, does so much better off-road, though still on sand it lacks to it's competitor.

Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus vs BF Goodrich KO2
The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus is a good tire but only if you stay on highways more. The tire's light weight provide amazing fuel efficiency, and tread life, and overall, it's quite effective on both on and off road traction. But the tire lacks durability wise, and that's where the BFG KO2 comes in.

Falken Wildpeak AT3w vs Goodyear Duratrac
The Falken Wildpeak AT3w focuses on wet, winter and wear (the 3 w in it's name), and out of these, I have to say it's great in all of them, well except for wear in general. On the other hand, the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac although can not outperform Wildpeak on a few areas, it really shines where most AT tires don't even dare to go, Mud. The tire is also great on rocks, dirt and even gravel (despite not having any stone ejectors).

Michelin CrossClimate 2 Review
Pirelli WeatherActive Goodyear WeatherReady. Bridgestone WeatherPeak. Bridgestone DriveGuard Plus.

Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus vs BF Goodrich Trail Terrain
Both tires are mild all-terrain tires, and out of them, the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain performs better on dry roads, in terms of traction, noise, fuel economy and wear. In comparison, on Pirelli Scorpion AT+, you get to have superior off road capability, and wet traction on highways.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT vs Falken Wildpeak AT3w
Overall it's pretty evident now, that the Cooper Discoverer AT3 is better suited when it comes to highway stability, and although its grip is on par with Wildpeak in wet, it provides better dry traction along with fuel consumption and overall comfort. But tire lacks off road and that's where Falken Wildpeak AT3w comes in with it's durability and aggressiveness. The tire's also better in snow, despite both of them awarded with 3 peak mountain snowflake rating.
