Mud Terrain (M/T) tires are the most aggressive off road tires. They have enhanced off road capability compared to all terrain tires and are not just built for mud.
But they are called Mud Tires because, mud is the toughest terrains of all, and other tires can NOT handle it too well. In other words they don’t provide enough traction there.
This goes for even aggressive all terrain tires.
These mud terrain tires come with deeper and wider grooves, so they’re able to evacuate thick slimy mud out of it’s channels very quickly.
Plus they are also the most durable with 3 ply polyester casing (though some do offer 2 ply options in lower load ratings, so they could perform a little better on road.
But yes, overall they can’t provide you with the same amount of comfort as all-season or even all-terrain tires.
